This webinar presents groundbreaking technology developed by researchers at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to perform biometric face recognition at night-time. Dr. Shuowen (Sean) Hu, Dr. Nathan Short, and Dr. Ben Riggan will discuss how combining machine learning, thermal and polarimetric thermal imagery, and visible-spectrum face datasets allows warfighters to automatically identify persons of interest in night-time or low-light conditions. By using deep neural networks to better analyze both global (i.e., entire face) and local face imagery data (e.g., nose, ears), this technology improves the performance of visible-spectrum face recognition software and allows human analysts to verify cross-spectrum matches more effectively.
