Machine learning (ML) is revolutionizing weather forecasting because it can identify complex patterns in vast amounts of weather data. It provides accurate predictions, fast updates, and the ability to capture subtle details that traditional methods might miss, all while being computationally efficient compared to traditional modeling. In the last 24 months, there have been four distinct advancements in the ML weather prediction (MLWP) revolution. We argue that there is the fifth advancement in the MLWP revolution that will enable integrating weather-impacted data in a MLWP to forecast mission effects/impacts.

In this webinar we will highlight why weather forecasting is one of the leading use cases in ML, introduce the four MLWP advancements, and explore how using weather-impacted data with MLWP will drive a fifth advancement. We will also discuss current and sought MLWP DoD technologies including the Air Force Weather’s Machine Learning Platform.
