The Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center is conducting research on chemical-biological-resistant textiles/fabrics for a next generation protective ensemble. To assist with this research, we would like to know what research and development (R&D) exists in passive and reactive textile/fabric technologies, especially for enhancing Warfighter personal protective equipment development. Such R&D may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Passive fabrics: protective barrier; filtration and air quality; nano- and microfiber; thermal regulation; phase change materials; functional performance; and specialized protection.
- Reactive fabrics: chemically responsive; self-decontaminating; detection and alert; and adaptive performance.
