Dr. Oscar D. Ayala earned his B.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2019. Dr. Ayala was a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow while at Vanderbilt where he utilized Raman spectroscopy to characterize bacteria to improve clinical diagnostics of infectious diseases. Dr. Ayala is currently a scientist at Cynosure, a Hologic company, where he studies the effects of energy-based technologies for medical aesthetic applications.
