Ethan C. Self is a Ph.D. graduate student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University. He received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2011. In 2014 he was awarded a Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, or DAAD, scholarship to work at Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, where he developed electrospun nanofiber catalyst layers for fuel cells. Self’s Ph.D. research is focused on the preparation and characterization of electrospun particle/polymer fiber mat electrodes for high performance Li-ion battery electrodes.
