The Homeland Defense and Security Information Analysis Center (HDIAC) is seeking information on work being done to create additional safety equipment to protect a Warfighter’s head from low-level blasts.
Service members constantly expose themselves to blasts with around 2 PSI throughout training sessions and live combat. They are reporting symptoms similar to traumatic brain injury due to a culmination of these shock waves. HDIAC is interested in changes in procedures and/or advancements in protective equipment for Warfighter’s heads when utilizing weapons systems with a blast force under 4 PSI to protect them against the cumulative effect of repeated low-level blast exposure.
If you are willing to assist in this effort or know of someone who might be willing to assist, please provide contact information and details in an e-mail to Deanna Milonas (deanna.c.milonas.ctr@mail.mil), the lead HDIAC analyst on this effort, or engage on the DoDTechipedia forum by clicking the “Join the Discussion” button below.
