The Homeland Defense & Security Information Analysis Center (HDIAC) was asked to identify U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. government (USG) subject matter experts (SMEs) with expertise in disease diagnostic platforms, specifically those utilizing genome editing tools to search for the presence of specific nucleic acids. The inquirer was also interested in any military applications for such platforms. An active technical inquiry to assist in collecting interested and pertinent SMEs was created by HDIAC and the Defense Systems Information Analysis Center. A list of SMEs and their credentials was collected from a variety of DoD, USG, and contractor organizations, such as the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Institute for Defense Analyses, U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Army Research Laboratory, and MRIGlobal.
