This webinar examines the threat posed to a mega-city by a nuclear Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) event. Presented by Dr. William G. Kennedy, Associate Professor in the Center for Social Complexity and Department of Computational & Data Sciences at George Mason University, the webinar presents a 1:1 agent-based model of the population of New York City and its response to a nuclear WMD event. By modeling the population’s interactions with the environment, the WMD event, and each other, this work empowers researchers to investigate ways of mitigating the damage and more efficiently deploying emergency response resources.
