HDIAC worked on an effort with Marine Corps System Command, in partnership with the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense/Joint Project Manager for CBRN Protection, and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Chemical Biological Center, to conduct a test data gap analysis in support of ongoing efforts associated with the emergence of contamination mitigation.
HDIAC developed a comprehensive list of operational vignettes (across the spectrum of combat) that are expected to be undertaken in a contaminated environment, gathered and reviewed existing test data on contamination mitigation, and determined the extent to which existing contamination analysis has been done in an operational context. They also determined which vignettes are backed by sufficient test data such that an operational commander could determine which forces would be allowed to continue combat operations in a decontaminated environment without CBRN personal protective equipment and with the smallest feasible logistical footprint. Finally, they prioritized existing vignettes from most to least likely scenarios to aid in prioritizing future testing.
